Eric Cartner was born and raised in the Star city. He has been tattooing professionally for 16 years. After getting his bachelors degree in fine arts, he moved to Texas and was given the opportunity to learn how to tattoo through business man and owner Mike “Rudy” Burford. He learned from an old school tattooer named Notorious Ed, who has been tattooing for more than 50 years. Mike owned 11 shops in Austin Texas in the 90s including Singapore John’s tattoo arcade and Notorious Ed’s 6 feet under ground. Eric had a very “old school “apprenticeship and learned the fundamentals of tattooing from the ground up. After that he worked at various shops, including Asylum, Skin Thrills,Tattoo lab, Myrtle Beach Ink, and Wildside tattoo. During his career he has learned from various talented artists in Best tattoo shop s Roanoke .He was lucky and thankful to learn from everyone who has given him advice or helped him along the way. In 2022 he decided it was time to take everything he had learned and open his own shop. As a child, Eric was always into rock ‘n’ roll, skateboarding, playing music, and art. The name “Rock Of Ages “is a double meaning. The rock of ages is one of his favorite tattoo designs and he also had a strong love for rock n roll. The studio has an 80s skateboard vibe ,mixed with a street shop where he learned how to tattoo. The studio offers private rooms, free snacks and drinks,and an atmosphere where clients feel like they are at home. He welcomes all different types of people to his studio and looks forward to meeting you and doing some custom work on you.
